The Week in Soccer

The staff photographer covered the 1-1 home tie with Moorhead and the 2-1 win at St. Cloud Apollo (the team finished the week with a 1-0 loss at Fergus).  Sarah “Baby Bruiser” Bruzek was named Central Lakes Conference performer of the week, having given up only three goals in five games.  We begin with player introductions for the Moorhead game – we will amend this issue to include player names as they are submitted.  Yup, haven’t been able to actually make a game yet.  First, the Spuds:

Then, at the Eagles:

Other girls sports:  Pilfered from the Echo Press are 8th-grade cross-country runners, Bethany and Megan Hasz.  They seem to finish behind only Card teammate and superstar, Jamie Piepenburg, at multi-team meets.

The Minnesota Lynx won today – they will now play for the WNBA championship.  The point to all of the above is that these are women sports.  And in a state where the men are represented by the likes of the Vikings, Gophers, and Twins, all of whom . . . I was going to say putrid, but that wouldn’t be nice . . . be thankful for the girls.

One shoutout to the guys – Alexandria Golf Club’s Dustin Johnson (r) is pictured here with Dustin Johnson (l), PGA tour star:

And finally, DO IT!!!:
